Yaariyan Movie Review

Yaariyan is a youthful movie, especially pointing to the young. Director Divya Kosla kumar is debuting with this movie and the star cast Himansh Kohli, who is a known TV star and Serah Singh, Rakul Preet Singh are debuting as well. Produced by Bhushan kumar and Krishan kumar under the banner of T series Super Cassettes Industry, the movie looks rich in values and music as well.

The movie is all about lives of 5 close friends experiencing the best moments of their lives in college days. Passing each day they learn new values and grow up to a level of maturity where they even fight to save their college. Lakshya (Himansh Kohli) being the lead actor delivered the best of his acting skills on screen.

The movie is shot in most exotic locales over India and some part in Australia. The college day’s part was shot in St. Bede’s College, Shimla. Mumbai, Sikkim and Darjeeling are some of the places where most of the movie was covered. Yaariyan is the first movie to shot in Sikkim.

The story begins in college where the hero and his batch enjoys to the max of their college life, music, colors, girls all over makes them crazy. They experience love, hate, stress, pain, joy and all genres of experiences; they grow up from the filthy narrow minded young persons to a stage where thy even fights to save their college.

From the beach song to a heart broken young song then to the love of his mother and finally for the fight is simply Yaariyan. At the end Lakshya competes in a race which reminds us Karan Johers Studen of the year where the hero needs to complete a race of bicycle then to a motor race and then after mountain climbing. Finally the show ends like every other movie ends.

Though the narration tells that the characters are in 1970’s but the attitude and body language shows the real thing, they aren’t of that time. Inexperience in the acting and inexperience in the direction clearly shows off but in some parts the cast had done a wonderful job.

In the first half Lakshya goes for his first kiss of his life, stands the best of the first half. The slow narration makes audience tired of watching the movie.

The music is a big plus for the movie, Pritam, honey singh, Mithoon have given their best efforts. The back ground music and the exotic locales in the songs gives boost to the movie success.

Moviemug rates Yaariyan with 2/5. (Only For the ‘Young’)
